Why would you choose to continue suffering by not forgiving?
That's right, by not forgiving you are living in the past, creating drama and consciously choosing to suffer. Your definition of forgiveness may be the culprit.
What is forgiveness?
As it relates to drama and suffering, consider what forgiveness is not: You are not letting the other person or yourself off the hook; you are not releasing anyone of responsibility for what happened. Forgiveness is choosing to let go of the pain and end your suffering. It is choosing to leave a place that is toxic and causes you harm.
